Whether it be massage or movement, treatments or yoga/meditation, all of our offerings are informed & inspired by Somatics, and so there’s always an opportunity within them to become empowered by psychosomatic education in small, simple ways, slowly and over time (this is usually the way in which our nervous systems/bodies tend to respond most positively to) it’s just about mapping out the most appropriate combination for you.

This one’s especially suitable for those overwhelmed by choice or currently experiencing burnout. If you notice your nervous system is more-often-than-not in a state of dysregulation or dis-ease and you’re not equipped to be with big emotions or access an ability to return to a state of Being (rather than doing or over-thinking) …if you’re struggling to connect to yourself, your body, other people or simple just the present moment - a Start Somewhere consultation is a solid place to start.

We can discuss your prior experience with body & facial treatments/touch, as well as your existing level of understanding around nervous system regulation, and see where there might be space to set you up with some somatic tools to take home and safely start expanding your capacity / Window of Tolerance to more easefully come back home to your body & connect more closely to the Presence that you are.

  • Our hour-long in-studio Somatic Consultation sets out dedicated time to discuss your unique nervous system and the ways in which either post-traumatic or chronic stress from modern life may be manifesting in your physical, mental, emotional - and even much more subtle/spiritual bodies.

    Includes a customised mini-massage to discern specific areas of somatic tension; and whether body treatments (massage/somatic therapy), movement (yoga/meditation) or a combination of both, will be the best approach to tailoring your long-term treatment plan. 10% discount for all bodycare/lifestyle products purchased on the day.

Humans are made for connection.

Somatics, in its simplest form, is all about learning to connect in with our bodies & listen to the signals our nervous system is sending us (and those around us) ie. “Self-Attunement”. Once we start to understand our nervous system with more nuance, we can take things a step further by using these vital listening skills to more easefully navigate the challenges we are inevitably faced with in life.

It’s not necessarily about relaxation - well; we’re certainly not aiming to be relaxed ALL of the time - nor is it even solely about nervous system regulation (cos sometimes what we really need is to sit with our discomfort and fully experience our emotions in order for stress responses to complete/resolve).

Ultimately, somatic work supports our sense of resiliency in the truest sense of the term. It offers us the opportunity to be present with the FULL spectrum of our human existence/experience and to safely expand into our Truest Self. Sounds like a lot, but it doesn’t have to be hard work! Often, the most simple somatic approach can unlock our most potent inner-wisdom & create the longest-lasting (as in; life-long..) change, especially when practiced with consistency.
